Daniil Medvedev won the 2026 Hangzhou Open on September 29, defeating Andrey Rublev 7-5, 6-4 in the final to claim his third ATP Tour title of the season.
The top seed struck 23 aces and committed just two double faults during the 93-minute match, according to the official tournament report. Victory over the second seed brought Medvedev his 24th tour-level singles title and extended his head-to-head lead over Rublev to 8-2.
Hangzhou joins Brisbane and Dubai on Medvedev’s list of tournament victories this year. Of his 24 career titles, 22 have come on hard courts.
Medvedev drops one set on his way to the title
After receiving a first-round bye, Medvedev began with a 7-6(6), 6-3 victory over Valentin Royer. His only three-set match came in the quarterfinals, where he defeated Coleman Wong 6-3, 6-7(2), 6-3.
He then beat Roman Safiullin 7-5, 6-4 in the semifinals before overcoming Rublev by the same score. The completed Hangzhou singles draw records four victories and just one dropped set across his title run.
ATP Finals qualification remains the target
The title left Medvedev eighth in the ATP Live Race to Turin, strengthening his position in the contest for ATP Finals qualification. He missed the season-ending tournament in 2025, having qualified every year from 2019 through 2024.
Attention now turns to the ATP 500 China Open in Beijing, where Medvedev has been drawn against qualifier Pablo Carreno Busta in the first round.
