Sinner withdrew as he continues recovering from a knee injury. Anisimova pulled out with a left wrist injury, while Jessica Pegula is also absent through injury.
Men’s Draw: Djokovic Could Meet Zverev
Top seed Zverev opens against Cameron Norrie, while sixth seed Djokovic faces Nuno Borges. The two could meet in the quarterfinals if they win their opening two matches.
Djokovic arrives with six China Open titles and a 29-0 record at the tournament. His opening match against Borges is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30.

Rybakina receives a first-round bye and will begin against Yuliia Starodubtseva or Alina Charaeva. Second seed Sabalenka awaits the winner of Anna Bondar vs Renata Zarazua.
Gauff and Swiatek landed in the same quarter, creating a possible meeting between the former Beijing champions in the last eight. Gauff opens against Lanlana Tararudee or Camila Osorio, while Swiatek faces Gao Xinyu or Panna Udvardy.
Among the first-round matches, Paula Badosa faces Daria Kasatkina, and Chinese wild card Zheng Qinwen plays qualifier Shi Han.
