Competition Format
The 2026 tournament features 20 men’s pairs and 23 women’s pairs in separate knockout draws. There are no singles, mixed doubles or round-robin group stages.
Some pairs receive opening-round byes because the draws contain fewer than 32 entries. The semifinal winners advance to the gold-medal finals, while the losing semifinalists play separate bronze-medal matches.
Qatar’s Mashari Naif and Rashed Naif are the men’s top seeds. Japan’s Kotomi Ozawa and Chifumi Sato lead the women’s seeding, ahead of compatriots Kae Tokumoto and Saki Tsukamoto.
