Solinco Hyper-Mach BD is a poly-poly hybrid set combining five-sided Mach-10 with smooth Hyper-G Round. Created with Brain Dead and released as part of the Acidchrome collection, it is designed to let players change power, penetration, spin and feel by reversing the two components.

This is not one blended string. The package contains two co-polyesters with different profiles: Mach-10 supplies the livelier, shaped response, while Hyper-G Round contributes smooth control and reduced inter-string friction.

The hybrid targets intermediate and advanced polyester users who want more customization than a full bed of one monofilament provides. The Tennis String Finder can help players decide whether any polyester setup is appropriate.

The package is fixed at one gauge. Players wanting thicker or thinner combinations must purchase Mach-10 and Hyper-G Round separately.

Material and Construction

Both components are co-polyester monofilaments, but they use different formulations and geometry. Mach-10 uses Solinco’s CloudFORM formulation and five edges to provide pop, pocketing and bite.

Hyper-G Round uses a smooth circular profile and proprietary Hyper-G family formula. The surface allows the other string to slide with less edge-to-edge friction and creates a more uniform response.

The packaged 1.20mm diameter makes both components relatively lively. It also reduces physical resistance compared with 1.25mm or 1.30mm versions purchased separately.

Orientation is central. Mach-10 mains create the more spin-oriented, shaped response. Hyper-G Round mains make court penetration and direct trajectory more prominent, while Mach-10 crosses add liveliness.

Solinco Hyper-Mach BD Performance

Power

Hyper-Mach BD provides above-average power for a complete polyester setup. Mach-10’s CloudFORM formulation and thin 1.20mm gauge supply more pocketing and depth than a traditional firm poly.

Mach-10 mains create the livelier overall response. Hyper-G Round mains produce a more direct, penetrating trajectory while the Mach-10 crosses still add pop.

The hybrid remains less powerful than natural gut or a responsive multifilament. It still expects developed strokes and racket-head speed.

Power rating: 7.5/10

Spin

Spin comes from the contrast between five-sided Mach-10 and smooth Hyper-G Round. Mach-10’s edges grip the ball, while the round partner reduces friction and supports main-string movement.

Mach-10 mains provide the clearer shaped bite and heavier spin trajectory. Solinco describes Hyper-G Round mains as the deeper, more penetrating orientation, which can still produce strong snapback spin.

The 1.20mm diameter increases ball interaction and movement. As the intersections notch or the materials lose elasticity, spin can decline before breakage.

Spin rating: 8.5/10

Control

Hyper-G Round adds valuable directional control to Mach-10’s lively response. The result is more restrained than a full Mach-10 bed without becoming as firm as Tour Bite.

Mach-10 mains emphasize shaped spin control, while Hyper-G Round mains produce a lower, more linear trajectory. Flat hitters may prefer the round-main orientation.

Both strings are thin, so the launch remains more responsive than a thick control-poly setup. Players using powerful open patterns should account for that difference.

Control rating: 8.5/10

Comfort and Feel

Comfort is good for a poly-poly hybrid. Mach-10 supplies pocketing and a softer category response, while Hyper-G Round provides clean, connected feedback.

No soft nylon component is included. The complete bed remains polyester and should not receive the same comfort rating as a poly-multifilament or gut hybrid.

Players with current arm pain should not treat the combination as protective equipment. A full bed of a softer material is the more conservative option.

Comfort rating: 7/10

Durability and Tension Maintenance

Physical durability is good but moderated by the 1.20mm gauge. Hyper-G Round reduces edge-related abrasion and can help the shaped component continue sliding.

Mach-10’s edges can still notch where they contact the round string, and both polyesters lose tension and elasticity over time. Solinco positions CloudFORM and Hyper-G Round around lasting playability, but no hybrid remains unchanged indefinitely.

Useful life ends when the mains stop returning, launch becomes inconsistent or impact becomes rigid. The package can remain unbroken after one component has declined more than the other.

Choosing the Right Gauge

Hyper-Mach BD is sold as a fixed-gauge package.

ComponentGaugeGeneral characteristics
Mach-1017 / 1.20mmResponsive shaped bite, pocketing and pop
Hyper-G Round17 / 1.20mmSmooth control, penetration and lower friction

Players needing greater resistance can build a custom version with separately purchased 1.25mm or 1.30mm sets. That changes performance and is not the same retail package.

Full Bed or Hybrid Setup

Full Bed

One Hyper-Mach BD package is intended for a hybrid, not a full bed of either single product. A complete set of Solinco Mach-10 or Solinco Hyper-G Round is required for a conventional full bed.

Mach-10 in the Mains With Hyper-G Round Crosses

This orientation emphasizes five-sided bite, spin and Mach-10’s lively feel. The round crosses support main-string sliding and add directional control.

It is the better starting direction for heavy-topspin players and those who want the shaped component to dominate.

Hyper-G Round in the Mains With Mach-10 Crosses

This orientation emphasizes penetration, a more direct trajectory and the round string’s uniform response. Mach-10 crosses add pop and pocketing.

It suits flatter aggressive hitters and all-court players who want less geometric bite from the mains.

General Tension Guidance

Both components are polyester and are generally installed below a nylon or multifilament reference. Players already using polyester can begin near their established range.

The two strings do not need a large tension difference. Orientation, pattern, head size and frame stiffness matter more than copying an exact number.

Use the racket manufacturer’s range and adjust gradually. The Tennis String Tension Calculator can organize the main variables.

Who Should Use Solinco Hyper-Mach BD?

Hyper-Mach BD is best suited to:

  • Intermediate and advanced polyester users
  • Players who want a responsive poly-poly hybrid
  • Heavy-topspin players using Mach-10 mains
  • Flatter hitters using Hyper-G Round mains
  • Users interested in orientation-based customization
  • Players who find full Tour Bite too firm

Who Should Avoid Solinco Hyper-Mach BD?

Hyper-Mach BD is less suitable for:

  • Beginners who do not need polyester
  • Players seeking natural-gut or multifilament comfort
  • Users with current arm pain
  • Frequent breakers needing thick gauges
  • Players who want a simple one-string setup
  • Anyone expecting the collaboration color concept to guarantee performance

Solinco Hyper-Mach BD Compared With Other Strings

Hyper-Mach BD vs Full-Bed Mach-10

Solinco Mach-10 in a full bed maximizes its shaped, lively character. Hyper-Mach BD adds a smoother and more controlled component.

Hyper-Mach BD vs Hyper-G Round

Solinco Hyper-G Round in a full bed is more uniform and less geometrically spin focused. Adding Mach-10 increases bite and pop.

Hyper-Mach BD vs Hyper-G Hybrid System

The Hyper-G Hybrid System combines square Hyper-G with Hyper-G Round. It is firmer and more control oriented, while Hyper-Mach BD substitutes the livelier five-sided Mach-10.

Hyper-Mach BD vs Tour Bite and Vanquish

A packaged pairing of Solinco Tour Bite and Solinco Vanquish combines polyester with multifilament for greater comfort and a larger material contrast. Hyper-Mach BD is more uniformly controlled and physically durable because both components are polyester.

Final Verdict

Solinco Hyper-Mach BD is a thoughtful poly-poly hybrid rather than a simple collaboration package. Five-sided Mach-10 supplies response and bite, while Hyper-G Round adds a smooth control surface and improves string movement.

Mach-10 mains are the best starting orientation for spin-focused players. Hyper-G Round mains suit flatter hitters seeking penetration and a more linear trajectory.

The fixed 1.20mm gauge makes the package lively and responsive but less resistant than a thicker custom build. It is best for established polyester users who understand that orientation changes the entire stringbed.

The set contains Solinco Mach-10 and Solinco Hyper-G Round, both in 17 / 1.20mm.

Which string should go in the mains?

Mach-10 mains emphasize shaped spin and pop. Hyper-G Round mains emphasize penetration and a more direct response.

Is Hyper-Mach BD comfortable?

It is comfortable for a poly-poly hybrid, but both components are polyester. A full multifilament or natural-gut bed is softer.

Is it available in other gauges?
