How to Serve in Padel | 3 Simple Steps
Every point in padel, begins with a serve, unlike tennis, padel requires an underhand serve.
The serving player positions himself behind the service line, (of either right or left side, depending on the score) aiming at the diagonal service box of the opponents, the player bounces the ball, and with a "forehand" like movement sends the ball over the net, inside the service box and the point begins...
3 Steps for a Consistent and Strong Serve
1. Starting Position
Stand behind the service line facing diagonally on the opposite service box. Position your feet shoulder-width apart with the right leg slightly behind your left leg (for right-handers) as shown in the picture above.
Use a continental grip during the serve, hold the ball in your non-dominant hand and make sure you're balanced before you begin the movement.
2. Serve Movement
The ball must bounce off the court before you hit the serve. Allow the ball to drop naturally by releasing it from your hand, and let it bounce (behind the service line) before you hit the ball.
After the ball bounces, swing your racket in a "forehand" like motion and strike the ball below waist level. Aim for a controlled stroke rather than a fast/powerful one, players benefit more from a tactically placed serve in padel.
3. Follow Through
As you're making contact with the ball, make sure to follow through with your movement and not stop your racket mid-way.
